My Highstreet Skincare Favourites. ♥

Sunday, 26 February 2017

Hi lovelies,
Before I begin... a little disclaimer - all of the products mentioned in todays post are under £14 each, so if you're anything like me and you're constantly on the search for a bargain then you're in luck. I have some amazing skincare products featured today, that are suitable for all skin types and super affordable. So if this sounds like something you fancy, stick around. Although I must warn you, you may want to make some sneaky purchases that your bank balance would disapprove of... :)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that I'm somebody who is really lazy with skincare. I like to keep things really simple and mainly stick to products that are cheap and cheerful. I don't really see the point in spending loads of £££ on skincare, I've been there done that, and got loads of spots after using the expensive stuff, to prove it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying skincare isn't important, because it seriously is. More that, just because something is on the pricier side, doesn't necessarily mean that it works best.

I've tried countless skincare products from high end brands, but unlike make up, something always brings me back to using high street/drugstore skincare. For some reason, it just works best for my skin and irritates it far less than some well known more expensive brands. Before you roll your eyes, I do understand that many high street skincare products DON'T work. However, I can hand on heart say that these beauties are products that I come back to day after day, the ones that I repurchase as soon as I run out, and continue to use because they do such a great job of keeping my skin clear, hydrated and radiant and an added bonus is, they're super cheap. Slight warning...this is a pretty hefty and detailed post, so grab a beverage and something tasty before we start chatting! ♥

10 Goals for 2017. ♥

Wednesday, 22 February 2017

Hello, me again!
Yep, I know we're almost at the end of Feb, but I missed out on this whole '2017 goals' thing way back at the start of the year and thought it was my turn to throw my goals into the mix as I love reading these posts. I feel like it's never too late to make a few goals in your life. Regardless if I'm three months late, I feel like the beginning of March should be the beginning of 2017 for me anyway, these past two months have been crazy and I'd like a fresh start pls and thanks. Anywho before I ramble and go off on a tangent, here are my 2017 goals.

 1. Don't take any sh#it from anybody. - enough said.
 2. Drink more water (always. I always have this goal each year but I'm so bad at sticking to it.)
 3. Don't let things bother me so much - people at work/work in general/small little worries that are teeny tiny and irrelevant. Oh I lost a follower on Instagram, boo hoo.

 4. Don't be too pressured to eat healthily - at this time of year everybody is on some crazy diet, been there done that. It's all about balance this year for me. Life is way too short. If I want the cake, or the huge box of Maltesers, I'm just gonna do it. :)
 5. Don't let blogging consume me - I've spoken about my experiences of blogging and the pressure I put on myself in the past. But this goes without saying really, this year my main is aim to blog like nobody is reading, do it because I'm obsessed with it, adore it and enjoy helping you guys out with all things beauty and life related. Don't add pressure on myself if I miss a post/can't take blog photos at the weekend because I'm out enjoying myself/ and definitely, do NOT compare! I've fallen back in love with blogging again recently, and yes I'm going to give it my absolute all but there's a fine line between adoring blogging and letting it consume you!
 6. Make more time for myself - I'm talking bubble baths with loads of Soap & Glory, and lots of LUSH, putting my phone down once in a while, having a break from social media and actually reading a book or watching one of my favourite shows on Netflix. I don't do this often enough  and I think it's super important if you want to remain sane.

 7. Make more of an effort with my skincare - Honestly, beauty blogger wise I probably commit the worst skincare sins daily. I am just the laziest person when it comes to skincare. I do the basics, cleansing, toning & moisturising and I always remove my make up each night however, I don't really make too much of an effort and I'd like to explore more skincare products this year to see if it changes the apperance of my skin at all.
 8. Moisturise - same as above, I can be so lazy when it comes to moisturising my body but as long as I have plenty of this stuff stocked up, which is almost good enough to eat - I'll know I'll try my best to keep my skin hydrated, as its so important!
 9. Be brave - attend more blogger events, put my face on the interwebs (this is a big deal for me as I can be so shy!) maybe even start a YouTube channel? Or vlog on Snapchat or Insta Stories? Whats the worst that could happen?
 10. Be happy - I can sometimes let things get the better of me and especially when my anxiety flares up, I can focus on negative thoughts rather than positive. This year I'm really going to try my best to live each day to the full and take happiness from the small things in life, because there truly is so much to be happy about in life.

What are your goals for 2017?
Have a lovely day!

Review | Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser. ♥

Sunday, 19 February 2017

Hey,
I'm back again, I thought since I'm back and all about blogging with passion, I'd review one of my all time favourite beauty products for you all. Since I began using it around a year ago, it has changed my LIFE. Honestly, no understatement, it has changed my whole make up look, and completely transformed my skin. No longer is my skin clogged full of heavy foundation each day, instead it has a lightweight, full, buildable coverage, with long lasting results and the most stunning glowy and dewy finish without looking oily, not only that but I'm also protected from harmful UV rays by SPF 20, daily, which means I ain't get no wrinkles or sun damage any time soon. Sound like your kind of thing? I haven't even finished yet...the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser  now before all you foundation lovers out there instantly click 'x' and roll your eyes, wait up, this tinted moisturiser offers fabulous coverage and has even helped reduce my acne. Honestly, keep reading you will be surprised by this little beauty!

♥ Why I adore this tinted moisturiser...
This is the most lightweight base I've ever used for a product that has such great coverage, I can't feel it at all on my skin which I love, as heavy bases don't suit me well at all. As it's a tinted moisturiser it doesn't necessarily have the same base you'd expect from your Estee Lauder Double Wear but I must say there is some fighting talk from this base in terms of coverage! It's amazing - especially to say it is in the 'tinted moisturiser' end of bases.

I would say it has better coverage than most high end and near enough all drugstore foundations I've tried, covering most of my blemishes with just one coat. I tend to reach for my trusty NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer or a heavier base like my NARS Sheer Glow/ L'oreal True Match Foundation when I'm having a really 'bad skin day' with actual volcanoes erupting on my face as sadly the tinted moisturiser doesn't conceal these alone. However, I've found the more I use this product, the less I'm reaching for my heavier concealers and bases, because my skin is much clearer. I think this is because it's such a lightweight product and it doesn't clog up my skin. Since purchasing this product a few months ago I've barely used my NARS Sheer Glow!

Though I hated the first couple of weeks where I felt like my spots were so red even with some concealer, in the long run, after battling it out, using this tinted moisturiser has allowed my skin to breathe which in turn has meant that now I can use this and reap the benefits of having much clearer skin, with an illuminating glow! It's simply perfect! I apply the tinted moisturiser using my hands (as told by the lovely lady on the LM stand in my local House Of Fraser) and this works a treat. I get the coverage I need without having to reach for my make up brushes. *Gasps from beauty bloggers and make up gurus all over the world.*

Blogging Has Changed. ♥

Friday, 17 February 2017

Hello lovelies!
Wow. It's been such a long time. So a few weeks ago, I popped back onto the scene after a long break from the blogging world. I stopped blogging in March last year. I didn't exactly quit blogging, I just decided that I needed a break and needed to evaluate whether this whole 'blogging' thing was for me anymore. Yes. I know, a very long evaluation indeed. Soz about that.

I got to that point where I was only blogging for the sake of it. I had no enjoyment from blogging anymore, I wasn't writing with passion like I did in the beginning. I let the numbers consume me really, and let my status in the blogging world tear me down, and knock my confidence. Every time I lost a reader or a follower on Instagram I let it get me down. I always thought 'What am I doing wrong?'

Blogging has changed so much since I started writing as a hobby in 2012, fast forward 5 years. (wow I feel so old) and you have bloggers from back in the day that used to join the #bbloggers chats, making so much £££, they're practically celebs. I see some of my old blogging friends on TV adverts and I'm like 'wow! How did that happen?' It's amazing, empowering and inspiring but so strange at the same time. I think when I see my fellow bloggers, who I used to blog with way before 2012, its so easy to compare myself to them, and even though I'm crazy proud of them and what they've achieved it does make me wonder where I'd be now had I have done things differently and maybe worked a bit harder. It's human nature to compare yourself to others, and in this crazy blogging world it's pretty impossible not to. However, I've truly learnt the meaning of the quote 'comparison is the thief of joy' this year and I will not let it steal any more of my happiness.

I think I got swept up into the madness of trying to be something I'm not, simply trying to only succeed in the blogging world, and by succeeding that meant sticking to a strict blog schedule, wasting my weekends away taking pretty blog photographs with the best lighting and the prettiest of props, cancelling plans with friends and families because I felt too pressured to put content out there, feeling like a failure if I missed a bloggers chat, or heaven forbid lost a few followers on Instagram.
