Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam Dark Review ♥

Sunday, 30 April 2017

If you read my last post about my trip to Ibiza and what I'd been up to lately, you will know I mentioned a gorgeous tanning product that I've been obsessed with over the past month. I've always been a huge lover of all things fake tan. I feel like I look so much healthier, and better with a bit of tan in my life, and I know the dangers of tanning beds, and sunbathing, not that we can do much sunbathing in the UK anyway, but you get my drift, UV rays can be so harmful and not worth the risk when you can get an even better, natural looking tan out of a bottle. Over the years I've tried so many fake tans, whether it be gradual ones, foams, mouses, shower tans, you name it, I've tried them. I have two firm favourites when it comes to fake tans, but of course like many like minded beauty geeks that doesn't stop me trying more products. I've heard loads about Bondi Sands over the past couple of months, so when I noticed a bottle of their raved about self tanning foam on offer in Superdrug I had to try it for myself and see what all the fuss was about. So here are my thoughts, it's quite a lengthy post, but this is my new favourite tan, and I'm not sure I'll ever go back now I've used this stuff. It's honestly SO amazing, I promise if you read to the end, it will be really worth it ...

♥ Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in DARK - £14.99 - Available here

♥ Price -
Ok so lets talk about the price. I know compared to the likes of St Moritz, and other tanning foams on the market, this probably seems quite expensive at £14.99, however for the quality of the tan after application, it honestly is worth the price tag and every single penny, and for a 200ml bottle, when you don't have to use tons of this stuff to see results, you can't really complain.

♥ Scent -
Something which instantly made me swoon as soon as I applied this gorgeous stuff, was the lovely scent of this tan. To me, it smells like all things holiday and coconuts. None of that disgusting biscuit smell that sadly lingers for hours, with many fake tans. No, just all things fresh and coconut, and best of all, the scent lingers, and doesn't fade into any other scent after a few hours. Another thing I've  found with many fake tans that don't smell like biscuits is, they smell really good for the first hour after you've applied them, but then once the tan is developed your back to that, good old biscuit scent again. Not with Bondi Sands, you'll smell like coconuts until you shower the tan off.

 ♥ Application and Formula-
To apply I use this tanning mitt, which is really affordable, and super easy to use. I used the pump function to simply squirt the tan from the bottle, onto my mitt, and then apply the tan in circular motions. Something I adore about this tan, is the actual colour of the tan itself when you're applying it, it's a brown shade with a green undertone - yet another thing I was really impressed with because green undertones in a tan, ensure you don't go orange, but instead turn into a tanned goddess! Anyway back to application, the colour is like I said, a dull, dark brown, don't be alarmed by this because this isn't the colour that your tan develops into. However it does really help with application because you can see exactly where you need to blend in the tan, and also if the tan is uneven.

The texture of the tan is quite velvety, it smoothes really easily into the skin, and is applied with no fuss at all. It's not messy either and best of all doesn't stain everything it comes into contact with! I'm usually not a fan of a foam tan, but I find this one really simple and enjoyable to use. I really like that he formula doesn't leave your skin feeling sticky either! In my opinion the worst thing about applying fake tan is feeling like you can't put your clothes on afterwards, because you're a sticky mess, not with this stuff girls, it absorbs into the skin within 5 minutes, so that you are able to put clothes on without worrying the tan will transfer and stain your clothing. Still be wary that you have tan on though, because I would say it's not fully dry until after around 30 minutes.

Once you've applied your tan, got your clothes on and are chilling with some magazines and a hot chocolate, it's up to you to decide how long you'd like to leave the tan on to develop. Bondi Sands say that you can leave it on to develop anywhere between 1 hour and 6 hours, depending on your desired tan. Obviously the longer you leave it on, the more tanned you will be. I tend to apply this after showering and prepping my skin by exfoliating, and then leave the tan on overnight. Oops call the beauty blogger police, as I know it states to only leave it on 6 hours, but like I said I'm such a tan freak that I like to be as tanned as possible, and this way, it allows me to wear the tan without having to go out in the day and feel uncomfortable wearing it whilst it's developing. Don't quote me on this, but I'm guessing the tan will just stop developing after 6 hours anyway. I've had no problems doing this and have only ever woken up to gorgeous, deep, tanned skin!

I bought the shade Dark, even though my skin is naturally quite pale, I like to be quite tanned and feel that light to medium tan options, barely touch the surface for me. I always buy the Dark option no matter what tan I use. However colour pay off wise, this is the best 'Dark' option I've ever used. It doesn't leave you looking a ridiculously unnatural shade of brown or should I say orange? Nor is it too pale. It's that perfect shade, it's somewhere in between. I was quite surprised that the 'Dark' Bondi Sands option wasn't actually as 'Dark' as I had imagined when I left the tan to develop overnight, with just one coat, it gives me a gorgeous, even sun kissed tan, that isn't orange or streaky in the slightest. However to get my desired level of tan, because I'm quite the tan freak, I tend to apply two coats and leave it to develop overnight, and the finish is honestly so beautiful, it's a real deep, sunkissed, olive brown tan. I can't emphasise enough how natural it looks. I always receive so many compliments from people who think I've been holiday because it's that natural, with not even the smallest amount of orange in sight.

When I apply two layers of this tan, I do my first coat, leave it for 30 minutes and then go onto apply my second coat. However on my second coat, I avoid areas such as elbow, ankles, hands, kneecaps and feet and just apply 1 coat to those otherwise it can start to look a little unnatural and patchy. True story.

Once you've left the tan on to develop for your desired amount of time, it will probably appear quite dull and darker than you'd imagine, however this is just the formula of the tan and not the actual tan itself. You simply wash it off in the shower with medium heat water. If it's too hot it will ruin your tan, if it's too cold it wont wash away properly. Don't use shower gel or anything, simply use the water to wash away the tan. Once you've washed the tan away, you pat your skin dry with a towel, you are left with the most beautiful, even and best of all natural results. You just have to see it for yourselves, honestly it's amazing.

 ♥ Lasting Power -
Now for the best part? LASTING POWER. This is the best tan I've used both for colour results and lasting power. Believe me, I am the worst person at moisturising my skin, I'm not one of those people that moisturise day and night and if I was I'm sure this tan would last me a whole month. Instead I apply this tan on a weekly basis, after showering and exfoliating, I don't really moisturise at all over the next 7 days, and it tends to just fade gradually over the following week, after around 7 days, I find that it does start to look a little bit patchy in certain areas, however not massively noticeable and a lot less patchy than some tans after 7 days. At that point, I will do the same routine over again, shower, exfoliate and reapply. It's really simple and straightforward.

 ♥ Cons-
With all products, there of course is a couple of cons. The only thing I can fault about the Bondi Sands foam,  is how difficult it can be to remove if you apply a bit too much to drier areas such as your hands, elbows etc. I guess it emphasises how good this gorgeous tan is at actually staying on, but it can be awkward to remove if it went a bit wrong. Like I said true story. But definitely my own fault. I did this my second time applying, when I got a bit too brave, and decided to go in for the 3rd coat just to see what the results would be like (never again on my pale skin), I ended up looking too dark in drier areas with a bit of build up, however, now I know my limits are to take it easy and only apply 2 coats because I'm quite pale. FYI a little tip from one fake tan lover to another, add a bit of lemon juice, into your regular exfoliator or scrub when trying to remove tough fake tan if you ever find yourself in that situation and it really does the trick.

Also my only other tiny, warning with this product is to definitely let the tan dry thoroughly before applying clothing or going to sleep as it can leave an annoying red transfer if you don't allow it to dry properly before applying clothing or getting into bed. However, these stains do come out, so not to fret if you're freezing and want to put your clothes on as soon as possible aha.

Overall I'm SO impressed with this tan and I can't believe how beautiful and natural the tans results are and how well it lasts on my skin! I've finally found my holy grail fake tan! I'm not sure anything will ever top this one! :) You can purchase the Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in Dark for £14.99 here.

I'm really looking forward to trying more of the Bondi Sands range, which products would you recommend from them?

♥ 1. IBIZA - Yep, if you follow me on Instagram (which you can do here) or Twitter (which you can do here, shameless self promoting, idec.) you'll know that I went travelling around Ibiza at the beginning of April and honestly it was amazing. I'd never been to Ibiza before, but had obviously heard loads about the party island. I stayed out of the crazy party scenes like San Antonio because that's not really me, but I adored the beautiful and quiet coasts that were full of pretty shops and cocktail bars. It was really quiet, because the season doesn't officially start until May, but nevertheless it was such a gorgeous mini break, and the weather was beautiful, I even got a tan! My Fiance and I stayed in a place right by the sea, and woke up to the beautiful fresh, sea breeze each morning and the sunrise shining through our apartment window and it was honestly, heaven. If you want to go to Ibiza but avoid the partygoers, a place I'd recommend that we enjoyed visiting while we were there, is Es Canar and other surrounding areas including Santa Eulalia, where it's just beautiful white sand beaches, bright blue sea, and lots of sightseeing with cute cocktail bars, and quirky shops, without any rowdy clubbers, or Pacha in sight. We had the best time and I enjoyed myself so much, it was great to get away! Have any of you ever been to Ibiza? Did you enjoy it? What did you get up to?

♥ 2. I was gutted about coming back from Ibiza, like I said the break was amazing, and the weather was beautiful. However we were blessed with some really lovely sunshine and gorgeous sunny temperatures in the UK, within a few days of my return. It definitely made coming home a whole lot easier, I loved going for Spring walks with my man, and sitting in the garden with a few magazines, a yummy smoothie and sunglasses in hand, or on face? I picked up these beaut glasses from New Look for just £8.99,  a few weeks ago, and I've worn them so much since. They're so on trend at the moment and I love that they are Rose Gold. Give me all the Rose Gold.

♥ 3. Just another Ibiza appreciation photograph. How blue is the sea?! It was so pretty there, it's unreal.

♥ 4. As many of you will know, I'm a real gel nail lover. I get my nails done religiously every 4 weeks and I will always update you with my fresh nail colour when I get my nails did at the salon via my Instagram, which you can follow here. Over recent months, I've been opting for plum/berry shades or nudes. However since we've been experiencing some gorgeous warm weather, and Spring has certainly sprung, I noticed this gorgeous pastel lilac shade and knew I had to try it. It looks so beautiful, if I do say so myself and is so girly! I really love it. What do you guys think?

♥ 5. These are a few clothing staples that I've been loving recently. I wore both the gorgeous tan coloured sandals, and floral embroidery A-line skirt whilst I was in Ibiza and I received so many compliments. I'm obsessed with this whole floral embroidery trend at the moment, it's sooo me. You can find these beauties at New Look, the tan sandals are just £19.99 and are available here, and the beautiful button up A line skirt was just £24.99 and is available here. Who else is loving the embroidery trend at the moment?

♥ 6. I'm loving all the beautiful flowers that are blooming at the moment. It makes me so happy!!!

♥ 7. I'm obsessed with the Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in Dark at the moment, although I had a tan when I came back from Ibiza, I used this stuff to enhance my tan and maintain it and I've received so many compliments on how natural it is. Honestly can't wait to tell you more about this exciting stuff. Full review coming this Sunday at 8am. If you're a fake tan lover, you need to read it! You won't regret it!!

♥ 8. How cute are my new jeans from Topshop? I am so pleased with them because, I actually bought them off eBay for just £5!! They were such a bargain because they were originally over £50 to purchases online or in store. Click here to see what they actually look like. I love the badge detailing on them, they're so pretty! I've been teaming them with these beautiful Rose Gold ballet pumps which were only £10.99 from New Look available here, yep I'm pretty obsessed with New Look recently! Not forgetting my trusty NARS Orgasm Blush, and MAC Coral Bliss lipstick to finish off this look.

♥ 9. How could I write this post without mentioning something I've been using DAILY over the past month? I reviewed the gorgeous Benefit GALifornia Blush this month, but just in case you missed it, this blush is absolutely stunning! It's like Summer in a little box. I've been applying this stuff to the apples of my cheeks and it gives me such a lovely, healthy, golden and natural summery glow. I just love it so much. If you haven't tried it yet, you really need to. The scent is to die for too. It's available here for £24.50

What have you guys been up to recently?
Have you ever been to Ibiza? What clothing stores are you loving at the moment? Are you loving the floral embroidery trend just as much as I do?

My Top 5 Spring Lipsticks. ♥

Sunday, 23 April 2017

♥ Today I thought I'd talk about one of the greatest loves of my life: lipsticks. Ahh I'm such a lipstick girl. Honestly, I hate to think of the amount of money I've spent on lipsticks over the years. There is just something so special in my heart about lipsticks, the make up lover in me swoons when I find a pretty shade in Boots, I swatch away until I'm given funny looks by Boots staff. Now that warmer weather is finally upon us, and the flowers are finally blooming, we can officially say Spring has sprung. There's nothing I love more than changing up my make up during Spring, and obviously what would my make up change be without swapping some of my winter berry and plum shades for some bright, pretty pink and corals? Here are my top 5 Spring lipsticks, that scream all things pretty and spring!

♥ From left to right: MAC Fan Fare, L'oreal Collection Exclusive by Naomi, MAC Peach Blossom, L'oreal Collection Exclusive by Eva, MAC Coral Bliss. Swatches and in depth reviews of each lipstick below.

♥ MAC Coral Bliss - £16.50 - available here

If this lipstick doesn't scream all things Spring then I don't know what will?! Who doesn't love a bit of Coral in their lives, especially during the warmer months? The only problem for me, is that I'm not one of those people who suit a bright, pink coral. So when I spotted this little beauty in my local MAC, I knew it would suit my pale skin and blonde hair perfectly, and enhance my skin tone, without washing me out. I was right!! However don't be put off, as this would suit darker skin tones and compliment them so well, as it looks beaut paired with a tan too. Coral Bliss is a gorgeous, light coral, that has just the right amount of coral without looking overly orange. Best of all, it's not one of those corals that have loads of pink in either, it's just what it says on the tin, Coral. It's extremely easy to wear. The cremesheen formula makes it lush to apply this lipstick, and the pigmentation makes colour pay off quite a thrill too. With just one application, you have the perfect amount of colour and you're good to go, with soft, hydrated and creamy lips too! It fades nicely and evenly throughout the day, and lasts anywhere between 3-4 hours. Honestly if you haven't swatched this before, you really need to. I think you will all love it so much! :)

♥ L'oreal Paris Collection Exclusive by Eva - £4.50 available here

Sadly this little beaut is limited edition and is no longer sold in highstreet stores such as Boots or Superdrug but I have managed to find it being sold on Amazon for just £4.50, so if you're interested I would definitely recommend it. This gorgeous shade is perfect for Spring and Summer, it really compliments a tan and any outfit on a warm, gorgeous day. The shade itself is a gorgeous, rich, bold, medium, bright pink, created specifically for skin tones and hair colours similar to Eva Longoria, one of L'oreal's brand ambassadors, although I don't have lovely, naturally tanned skin like Eva, and I'm pretty pale with blonde hair, this really suits me, so don't worry so much if you haven't got the same skin tone or hair colour as Eva, as I'm sure it will look just as amazing on you! I like to wear this especially on holiday, or on a sunny day with some bronzer and it looks amazing! The colour looks really bold when you look at the bullet, however the pigmentation is much less strong and bold once applied, something which I believe is a great thing, as the colour enhances your natural colour, and gives you that gorgeous pop of colour you crave, without worrying about application, or lip liner. This couldn't be any easier to apply, it has enough pigmentation so that you can apply on the go, fuss free, even without a mirror, with one swipe of this dreamy stuff over your lips, you're good to go. The formula is fairly long lasting, with top ups needed every 3-4 hours, though once applied it leaves a gorgeous stain on your lips. The best thing about this lipstick is the gorgeous texture, it leaves a somewhat matte finish, adding a gorgeous coral pink, pop of colour but it keeps your lips hydrated and is so comfortable to wear. I can't recommend this beaut enough!

♥ MAC Peach Blossom - £16.50 - available here

Ahh this is my all time favourite lipstick. It's that shade, that is my lips but better. I wear this all year round anyway, but when the flowers are blooming, and Spring has sprung, I'm pretty much wearing this beauty, most days. Every body needs this colour in their collection no matter what skin tone you have. However, calling all you pale girls out there, with a similar skin tone to myself, if you want that 'my lips but better shade' this one is THE ONE.♥♥♥ When you see this, it probably doesn't really shout out to you much, and when you're in MAC it's probably the shade you don't even bat an eyelid to, however if you haven't tried this, girl you're missing out. It matches every make up look and outfit without fail, the shade itself is a light rose, nude with a lovely mixture of peach thrown into the mix too. The pigmentation is good, and the colour in the bullet is similar to the colour pay off, when applied only once. The cremesheen formula makes application a dream the final colour pay off once applied is even, comfortable to wear and feels gorgeous on your lips, it keeps your lips feeling creamy, soft and hydrated, and the formula doesn't cling to dry areas at all. The only downside is that its not as long lasting as I'd like, it probably lasts around 1-2 hours before having to reapply, but the gorgeous shade, amazing formula and ease of application, makes it worth the while.

♥ L'oreal Paris Collection Exclusive by Naomi - £6.99 - available here

I mentioned this gorgeous pink lipstick collection by L'oreal , which is sadly limited edition, above. However, like I said before I have found a very cheap seller on Amazon that is selling these beauties, so you're in luck if you like the look of this beauty. This is a gorgeous subtle, natural, light, rose pink shade that adds that little bit of Spring pink into your make up collection, without shouting it from the roof tops. If you aren't a pink lipstick fan, or you find pink shades don't suit you very much, I'd highly recommend this beauty. It's pretty much a nude lipstick with a hint of pink. This lipstick doesn't take the focus away from different parts of your make up, so if you're rocking that gorgeous smokey eye or winged liner, this is perfect because it enhances your lip colour, adding a gorgeous rose pink shade, without going wild. The lovely, natural rose pink shade would probably compliment every skin tone. Again, just like the Eva lipstick above, the Naomi shade is really comfortable to wear, adding hydration to your lips, and giving you a gorgeous semi-matte finish without enhancing or clinging to drier areas. It lasts around 3-4 hours before having to reapply.

♥ MAC Fan Fare - £16.50 - available here

The photograph above makes this lipstick look pretty light in the bullet, but if you look at the swatches below you'll see how truly beautiful this shade is. It's been one of my all time favourite MAC lipsticks for as long as I can remember, I reach for it all year round as it's so natural but the pink hues in it have me reaching for it so much more, come Spring time. This gorgeous shade is a salmon pink, with coral undertones. It's a mid tone pink that would compliment most skin tones, it especially suits my pale skin as the pink really stands out, and you can see the coral undertones very clearly, they are so complimenting and add a gorgeous look to any outfit or make up look. However obviously depending on your skintone, a different colour pay off will show, so I'm sure it will look beautiful paired next to most, if not all skin tones. This is a cremesheen formula, which means it's an absolute dream to apply, and so comfortable to wear. You simply cream this into your lips and with one application, you get an excellent colour pay off, and you're good to go. Application is made easy for on the go, there's no fuss or mess and as always with MAC lipsticks, pigmentation is amazing. Staying power is fairly good, it lasts around 2-3 hours before having to reapply, and leaves a lovely stain of colour on your lips. If you want an every day, Spring lip colour that adds a pop of pink, and a slight hint of coral, this is the one!

♥ Swatches from top to bottom: L'oreal Paris Collection Exclusive by Naomi, MAC Peach Blossom,  MAC Coral Bliss, MAC Fan Fare, L'oreal Paris Collection Exclusive by Eva ♥

I hope you've all found a lipstick that you love today, and that you're keen to try for yourselves this Spring. I would love to hear what your favourite lipstick or lipgloss is at the moment, as I'm always on the look out for new beauty and make up finds, especially when it comes to lipsticks.

Have a fab day!
